On the attack against the Quebec Islamic Cultural Center: Statement by High Representative/Vice President Federica Mogherini

EU News 16/2017

Brussels, 30/01/2017

Sunday's attack against the Quebec Islamic Cultural Center has shown once again that terrorism is a threat for citizens all over the world, no matter what their religion, belief or nationality is.

We express our deepest sympathy and offer our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the authorities of Canada.

Like Canada, the European Union firmly supports freedom of religion and diversity as a source of strength of our societies, and will keep protecting and promoting it.

At the same time, we will continue to work closely with Canada and our international partners to combat violent extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
