Commissioner Moscovici will represent the European Commission at the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting on 20-21 May in Sendai, Japan. The agenda includes discussions on revitalising the global economy, building a resilient international financial architecture, sustainable and inclusive development and promoting integrity of cross-border financial flows. Referring to these working sessions, Commissioner Moscovici said “This meeting takes place against a backdrop of uncertainty surrounding the global economy. The G7 countries must send a strong signal of their determination to deploy all available tools to support growth at this time. This will also be an occasion to discuss progress in the fight for greater tax transparency, where the EU has a strong story to tell its partners."
The discussion in Sendai will constitute an important step towards the G7 Ise-Shima Leaders’ Summit on 26-27 May.
