Council appoints four new commissioners

Brussels, 17 July 2014

The Council today appointed, by common accord with the President of the Commission, and in accordance with article 246 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, the following persons as members of the European Commission for the remainder of its current term of office (31 October 2014):

• Mr Jyrki KATAINEN (Finland), replacing Mr Olli Rehn, responsible for economic and monetary affairs and the euro;
• Mr Jacek DOMINIK (Poland), replacing Mr Janusz Lewandowski, responsible for financial programming and the budget;
• Mr Ferdinando NELLI FEROCI (Italy), replacing Mr Antonio Tajani, responsible for industry and entrepreneurship;
• Ms Martine REICHERTS (Luxembourg), replacing Ms Viviane Reding, responsible for justice, fundamental rights and citizenship.
