The European Union (EU) and Japan will hold their sixth round of negotiations toward a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) in Tokyo from 7 to 11 July. It marks the first negotiating round to take place after the EU concluded its one-year review of progress made in the discussions so far, and determined that the talks should continue.

Mr Mauro Petriccione, director for Asia and Latin America in the European Commission's Directorate General for Trade will lead the EU side, while the Japanese negotiating team will be headed by Ambassador Yasumasa Nagamine, deputy minister for foreign affairs.
