EU diplomats to reach out to over 42,000 Japanese high school students

A total of 64 European Union diplomats, including 13 ambassadors, are planning to visit a total of 83 senior high schools in 30 prefectures across Japan next month to talk about the EU and their respective countries.

Building on the success of past versions, this year's "The EU Comes to Your School" event, to be held on 12 and 13 May, will see its eighth edition with EU diplomats visiting schools from Oumu-cho in Monbetsu, Hokkaido to Tanegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture. In total, they will be talking to more than 42,000 high school students.

The EU is keen to reach out to young people in Japan and help enhance their knowledge of the world, including the rich and diverse history and cultures of Europe and its Member States. EU diplomats have so far visited approximately 700 schools and have given lectures to over 300,000 Japanese students since this annual event was launched in 2007
