Information
Session by participants of the SEA Concept Development Master Class
Co-organised by the Delegation of the EU to Japan, SEA Partner in Japan (Office H) and Gachitalk, with the support of the Embassy of Denmark in Japan

Five professionals from Japan working in animation production who took part in an intensive 2-week master class in Europe largely funded by the European Union's MEDIA Mundus programme will speak about their experience – the challenges and rewards of working in a multi-cultural environment. Additional guest speakers including a representative of the animation industry and the chief editor of an online magazine focussing on animation will liven up the discussion on the current state of and future opportunities in international co-production for animation creators. The session should be of interest not only to professionals looking to broaden their horizons and students seeking future career opportunities, but also to those people interested in learning about the creative industries in Europe.

n.b. This session will be in Japanese only (no interpretation)

EU Animation Film evening
with a selection of films from Ars Electronica 2013
Co-organised by the Delegation of the EU to Japan and the Austrian Embassy in Tokyo

The second half of the EU Animated Arts Day will start off with a networking session where speakers and guests from the first session can mingle with guests attending the evening talk and screening session. Light refreshments will be served.

Artist, curator and researcher for Ars Electronica Futurelab Hideaki Ogawa will give a first-hand account of the Ars Electronica Festival, an internationally renowned celebration of media arts held annually Linz, Austria. The talk will be followed by a screening session showcasing recent examples of animation films from nine EU member states and Japan, covering a wide range of themes from Experimental to Late Nite to Memories, all of which were shortlisted and presented at Ars Electronica 2013.

The presentation will be in both English and Japanese. Most of the videos screened have little or no dialogue.
