Statement by the Spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on the recent events in Thailand

The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:

"The EU as a long-standing friend of Thailand is following the political situation and the growing number of violent incidents in Bangkok with concern. The High Representative condemns any use of force as a political means.

The High Representative calls on all involved to establish without delay a genuine and inclusive political dialogue process with the aim of delivering concrete results towards reconciliation within Thailand's democratic and constitutional framework."
