Statement by the spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on the recent inter-Korean agreements

The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and
Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:

"The High Representative welcomes the recent positive developments within the Inter-Korean dialogue, and especially the agreement to reopen the Joint Industrial Park in Kaesong and resume family reunions.

The High Representative is pleased that the Inter-Korean dialogue seems to bear fruit. Honouring past bilateral and multilateral commitments is a good way to promote trust and peace building. The High Representative encourages both sides to continue dialogue and cooperation to build trust and improve peace and security on the Korean Peninsula."
