Winners selected for EU-Japan Friendship Week Photo Contest

In the context of the 2013 EU-Japan Friendship Week the EU Delegation for the first time organised a photo contest around the theme "EU and I". Japanese citizens were invited to submit a photo of their choice which in their opinion corresponded best to this theme. Winners were identified via public voting on the Delegation's Facebook page. On the closing date of Friday, 7 June the following five winners were identified:

  • Mr Tetsuo Ogata: 23 votes
  • Ms Yukari Ueda: 18 votes
  • Mr Hitoshi Doi: 17 votes
  • Mr Yuki Noguchi: 12 votes
  • Ms Naoko Atsuji: 10 votes

On Thursday, 13 June 2013 the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Japan, Minister Maeve Collins met over lunch with three of the winners (Ms Ueda, Mr Noguchi and Mr Ogata). Unfortunately, due to conflicting schedules the two remaining winners were not able to attend. Also present on the EU side were Mr Rudie Filon, Head of Press, Public & Cultural Affairs and Ms Hiroko Takebe, the Delegation's Cultural Affairs Officer.
