Eleventh edition of EU Film Days kicks off at the Italian Cultural Institute

A special screening and reception marking the launch of EU Film Days 2013 was held at the Italian Cultural Institute on 30 May 2013.   Professor Giorgio Amitrano, Director of the Italian Institute, and Ms. Maeve Collins, Minister and Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Japan welcomed the guests, which consisted of over 130 members of the diplomatic community, the film world, and the media. The award-winning Irish film 'Men at Lunch' was screened following an introduction by Irish ambassador to Japan H.E. Mr John Neary. Special guests Mr. Maciej J. Drygas, director of the Polish film 'Violated Letters', and Ms. Margien Rogaar, director of the Dutch film 'Bon Voyage', introduced and showed short excerpts of their respective films, both of which are screened in full during the EU Film Days festival.

EU Film Days, is a unique collaboration between the EU Delegation and EU member state embassies and cultural institutes showcasing the diversity and high quality of European cinema. Details: www.eufilmdays.jp
