European Innovation in Japan

EU News 249/2013

24 May 2013

On 19 April, EU Delegation in Japan organized a networking event to improve the collaboration among the European innovation actors in Japan, such as national science funding agencies, laboratories, research centers, universities representations, as well as promotion and consulting institutions present in Japan. Representatives of 10 institutions presented their structures, activities, shared their experience in collaboration with Japanese partners and explained trends in Japan in their respective fields (e.g. photovoltaics, space science, aviation, micro/nanotechnology, R&D investments, researcher mobility, student exchange, service-related design, business and social innovations, etc.). A following discussion with the representatives of the MS and FP7 Associated Countries focused on how they can better cooperate: e.g. better disseminate information about existing opportunities in Japan back in Europe, 'go to source' for information on EU and funding opportunities in Europe, more frequent exchange of experience, coordinated media effort on the excellence of European Science and Innovation, co-organizing events, share information related to STI in Japan and other.

Participants: CNRS, DAAD, TEKES, DLR, LIMMS, NextPV, Oxford University, Eurotechnology, EU-Japan Center for Industrial Cooperation, Euraxess, EU MS and Associated Countries.
