EU Delegation organises photo contest to mark EU-Japan Friendship Week

EU News 225/2013

9 May 2013

The Delegation of the European Union to Japan will for the first time organise a photo competition for Japanese nationals under the theme 'The EU and I' as part of its ongoing efforts to foster closer ties between the EU and Japan, which are poised to be raised to a higher level with the launch in April of negotiations toward a bilateral political agreement and free trade agreement.

The competition will be open to Japanese nationals aged 20 years or older, who are invited to submit entries that express one or more dimensions of the relationship between the EU and Japan. A Facebook account is required to participate and view detailed rules of the competition. Entries may be submitted from Thursday, 9 May, 2013 until noon Tokyo time on Friday, 7 June 2013.

The contest is to be held as part of this year's EU-Japan Friendship Week, a programme of academic, cultural and public events across Japan, many of which are supported by the EU Delegation, that give the general public a chance to learn more about European culture, history and current affairs.

Up to five winners will be announced on the Delegation's Website and social media, and invited to a luncheon in Tokyo* hosted by Maeve Collins, Minister and Deputy Head of Delegation.
