Ahead of this year’s United Nations General Assembly and on the eve of the adoption of the External Investment Plan, High Representative Federica Mogherini today welcomed Development Ministers from the 28 EU member countries to Brussels for their bi-annual informal meeting.
Mogherini took the opportunity to discuss how to strengthen the link between development and peace and security, particularly in parts of Africa affected by conflict, and the link between the EU’s work on migration and its work on development, following the recent adoption of ‘migration compacts’ with a number of developing partner countries and a year after the adoption by the UN of Agenda 2030.

The High Representative also called on ministers to help with the implementation of the EU Global Strategy, her blueprint for the future of EU External Relations.
Mogherini is developing a concrete roadmap to put the Global Strategy into action, focusing on security and defence, an integrated approach to crises and conflicts, more internal/external coordination in EU external policy, enhanced Public Diplomacy and better follow-through on the numerous EU foreign policy strategies.
