EU Film Days 2016 to kick off on 18 June

The 14th edition of the European Union's highly successful EU Film Days will take place at the National Film Center (NFC), The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo from Saturday, 18 June to Sunday, 10 July. For the first time this year, the festival will showcase films from all 26 EU Member States with an embassy in Japan, 12 of which will be shown in Japan for the first time. Additionally, 24 Member States will also have their film shown at the Museum of Kyoto, from Saturday, 25 June to Friday, 15 July.

Co-organised by the Delegation of the EU to Japan, EU Member States' embassies and cultural institutes in Japan, and National Film Center (NFC), The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, EU Film Days brings the best of European cinema to audiences in Japan.

Some screenings will be paired with events featuring special guests (please see EU Film Days Official Website below for details):

- The Japanese Dog (Romania, 18 June Tokyo screening only)
- Admiral (The Netherlands, 18 June Tokyo screening only)
- Imagine (Poland, 19 June Tokyo screening and 25 June Kyoto screening)
- Viktoria (Bulgaria, both Tokyo screenings, and 7 July Kyoto screening)
- Cherry Tobacco (Estonia, 24 June Tokyo screening only)
- The Wall (Austria, 26 June Tokyo screening only)
- The Ardennes (Belgium, 10 July Tokyo screening and 12 July Kyoto screening)

In addition to the main programme, there will also be four special programmes featuring guest speakers. Two are special premiere screenings of documentary films, one a special session by one of the visiting film directors, and the other an introduction to European and international programmes for people working in animation combined with screenings of works produced by programme participants.

- Hollywood Banker (guest speaker for 18 June Tokyo screening)
- Ruch and Norie (both Tokyo and Kyoto screenings)
- The World of Andrzej Jakimowski (special talk session by the director on 19 June, Tokyo only)
- Presentation by The Animation Workshop (21 June, Tokyo only)
