Council of the European Union

Eastern Partners
The Council discussed political developments in the Eastern partner countries and how best to take forward the Eastern Partnership, in line with the outcome of the Riga Summit in May 2015.

Ministers emphasised the need for having a tailor-made, differentiated approach for each of the six countries to cater for their very different situations.

Counter-terrorism
The Council discussed the external dimension of the EU's counter-terrorism work. The High Representative updated ministers on progress achieved to date and on further measures envisaged. The Council assessed, in particular, cooperation with countries in the Middle East and North Africa, Turkey and the Western Balkans. It discussed geographical and thematic priorities, such as work against foreign terrorist fighters, improving border security and aviation security, curtailing terrorist financing and countering radicalisation and violent extremism.
